The Levitra Effect on Erectile Dysfunction

Levitra for erectile dysfunction

Amidst the many erectile dysfunction medicines available, Levitra is a distinguishable ED pill that has gained immense popularity. Its role in saving men from this trouble of erectile dysfunction is quite notable. Approved by the Food and Drug Administration on August 19, 2003, Levitra became the second in the series of erectile dysfunction medicines to be introduced. Today, most men with erectile dysfunction prefer this medication over other treatments. It is an oral prescription medication which you can find in any medical store. You can also find Levitra online in any online pharmacy of your choice. But this requires the approval of a trusted doctor first.

Erectile Dysfunction and Levitra:

erectile dysfunction

Commonly known as Impotence, erectile dysfunction is a male health disorder. In this condition, the man finds it difficult to sustain a proper erection for a physical intercourse. It occurs mainly due to a decrease in the blood flow to the penile nerve. There is an enzyme called PDE5 (phosphodiesterase type 5) that causes such obstruction in the blood flow.

This condition can occur in anyone aged between 40 to 70 years. There can be numerous physical or psychological conditions behind the occurrence of such condition. Stress, anxiety, smoking, and drinking can also contribute to erectile dysfunction in men. ED pills like Levitra do not exactly cure the underlying cause but does help one to sustain an erection. It is a PDE5 inhibitor. Its main objective is to increase the blood flow to the penile nerve.

Let us now find out how Levitra works.

What is Levitra made of?

Active ingredient: Vardenafil

Inactive ingredients: Magnesium Stearate, Polyethylene Glycol, Hypromellose, Silicon Dioxide, Yellow Ferric Oxide, Red Ferric Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Microcrystalline Cellulose and Crospovidone.

How does Levitra work?

Levitra pills

Levitra works when there is a sexual stimulation present. Such stimulation can release nitric oxide in the process. This converts the GTP (guanosine triphosphate) into cGMP (cyclic guanosine monophosphate). But due to the presence of PDE5 (phosphodiesterase type 5) enzyme, the cGMP molecules cannot function properly.

Vardenafil binds to these PDE5 enzymes and helps the cGMP molecules to function properly. This facilitates the blood flow to the erectile tissue as the muscles around the blood vessels relax. The man is able to obtain an erection as the blood fills the erectile tissue of corpus cavernosum.

Levitra does NOT:

  • Induce sexual stimulation: This ED pill does not induce any sexual stimulation or such. Instead, it only works when there is such stimulation present. This is because the drug requires nitric oxide to function in the first place.
  • Protect you from STDs: Levitra does not protect one from sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). It only helps in the treatment of erectile dysfunction. You must take precautions against such diseases separately.
