Nuvigil being a cognitive enhancer i.e. enhances or improves the cognitive functions in the brain. It helps enhance retaining the ability, reasoning skills, and abilities, creativity, and imagination etc. in a person.
Below are some general guidelines regarding the doses to be taken. Remember to consult a doctor before consuming this pill. The doctor can best prescribe you the doses depending upon your medical condition and your response to treatment.
Usual Adult Dose for Narcolepsy and Sleep Apnea patients:
Take 150-250 mg orally once a day in the morning.
Usual Adult Dose for Shift Work Sleep Disorder
Take 150 mg orally approximately 1 hour before the start of the work shift once in a day.
Overdosing must be avoided at any cost. The symptoms of overdose include nausea, diarrhea, confusion, restlessness or excitement, fast and slow heart rate, chest pain, trouble sleeping or hallucinations. If you experience any of these, go to the doctor at once.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Do not consume it if it is almost your bedtime. This will make it difficult for you to fall asleep. Resume to your normal scheduled doses. You should not take an extra pill, however, just to make up for the missed doses.
